Frequently asked questions

Eating disorder recovery, mental health interventions, and supervision require sufficient time for personalised care, goal setting, and collaboration with your broader support team. Shorter sessions are used only when clinically appropriate.

30-minute sessions are only available for dietitian services and are typically used for follow-up or progress reviews, if recommended by your dietitian.

Medicare rebates may be available with a valid referral from your GP for eligible services, such as Chronic Disease Management, Eating Disorder Treatment Plan or Mental Health Care Plan.  Rebates are processed directly to you after you pay for your consultation.

We require at least 48 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Full fees apply for late cancellations that cannot be filled or for missed appointments.

Both Clinical Psychologists and Registered Psychologists are fully qualified, regulated health professionals who are registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Both can provide psychological assessment and therapy.

A Clinical Psychologist has completed additional postgraduate training in clinical psychology and holds an area of practice endorsement.

A Registered Psychologist has also completed extensive university training and supervised practice, and our team have significant experience working with eating disorders as well as a range of mental health disorders across different ages and a range of settings.

The most important factors are often the quality of the therapeutic relationship, the clinician’s experience in the area you need support with, and whether you feel understood, safe, and supported in treatment.

At our practice, all psychologists provide evidence-based treatment and work collaboratively with clients, families, referrers, and other treating professionals where appropriate. Our clinicians also engage in ongoing professional development and supervision to support high-quality care.

Telehealth psychological support may be effective for many people experiencing eating disorders, depending on their needs and circumstances.

At our practice, we provide the same evidence-based treatments via telehealth as we do in clinic, with therapy thoughtfully adapted for online delivery where needed.

Some people prefer the flexibility and accessibility of telehealth, while others feel more comfortable attending sessions in person. We support each person to choose the format that best suits their needs, preferences, location, and circumstances.

Telehealth can also make support more accessible for people living in regional or remote areas, those balancing work or study, or individuals seeking continuity of care from home.

Telehealth is generally most appropriate for clients who are medically stable and suitable for outpatient care. We carefully consider whether telehealth is suitable for each person’s needs and can discuss additional supports, medical monitoring, or referrals if more intensive care is required.
